Role of the healthcare worker from the public health network
The assistance of the network healthcare worker is essential to the success of a baluchonnage. We accept requests for baluchonnage only when they come from the public health network, except in the Chaudière-Appalaches region, as part of a pilot project.
The role of the network healthcare worker is crucial, as he or she:
- Informs customers about Baluchon Long-term Respite Care’s services and daily costs.
- Evaluates the patient and obtains a precise diagnosis, along with a list of other health problems.
- Asks about the dates when a baluchonnage is desired and offers at least two choices, especially during the summer months.
- Completes a request form and sends it to Baluchon Long-term Respite Care by e-mail.
- Informs Baluchon of the context or urgency of the situation. Information like the presence of many animals, a third party living on the premises or a complex family situation must be provided.
- Ensures that ongoing CLSC services (hygiene care, day centre, etc.) or private company services are maintained during the baluchonnage period.
- Is available for any urgent matters that may arise during the baluchonnage.
