Who uses our services?
Our respite, support, and guidance services are intended for all caregivers, without exception, throughout the province of Quebec.
We work with people affected by Alzheimer's disease and other cognitive disorders, as well as those who are bedridden or suffering from Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), multiple sclerosis (MS), and other degenerative diseases. We also care for people in the final stages of life and help support their caregivers.

Respite services for a period of 4 to 14 days, 24 hours a day, anywhere in Quebec
The following is a brief overview of our baluchonnage services as well as our approach.
Baluchon Long-term Respite Care service offering includes 4 stages :
1. Respite services (baluchonnage) for a period of 4 to 14 days, 24 hours a day, anywhere in Quebec
Baluchon Long-term Respite Care offers respite periods of 4 to 14 days for the caregivers of persons experiencing a loss of autonomy. Specialized caregivers, known as respite workers, come to the caregiver’s home and take over their responsibilities, 24 hours a day, for the duration of the respite period. Baluchonnage is available year-round throughout Quebec.
2. Support services
During the baluchonnage period, a care journal is prepared for the caregiver. This journal is intended to update the caregiver on any important events that may have taken place during the respite period. It also includes observations made by the respite worker regarding the functional autonomy and cognitive abilities of the care recipient. Caregivers receive personalized attention and support from our staff for the entire duration of their relationship with us.
Our clinical services agents are available to answer questions, facilitate service delivery, and ensure the collaboration of all those involved in the provision of care.
3. Training services
Baluchon Long-term Respite Care offers a range of services that equip caregivers with the techniques, skills, strategies, and knowledge required to carry out their duties more effectively. New strategies and personalized advice can be offered in difficult situations, and new information on Alzheimer's disease is shared. During the respite period, the respite worker keeps a journal that serves as a personalized training support tool adapted to the caregiver's specific situation.
4. Continuum of service in collaboration with the Health and Social Services Network (RSSS)
Collaboration and communication between the Baluchon team and network case workers are key to the success and quality of our services. Our team will place regular follow-up calls to your network case worker to ensure continuity of service after the respite worker's departure. Since 2009, our organization has been party to renewable and recurring regional service agreements with the public health network with a view to sharing strategies that promote the autonomy and well-being of care recipients.
